The Menzingers, A Day To Remember, and Rise Against....

All The bands Which I have never been able to shoot, or even see for that matter. I Had Listened to Rise against since their single "Give It All" came out, And ADTR sometime after their first album. But lets start this first site review off with the opening band of the show. The Menzingers. To be honest I had never heard of this band before, until this show was announced. Didn't check them out on facebook until about a week or so before the show. After giving them a listen on facebook, I didn't really care for the music. I was still planning on shooting them though. Because I have found out before, that a live performance and very well change someone's opinion on a band. Which is what happened to me that night. I wasn't attracted to their stuff on facebook because it was kinda mellow. But seeing them on stage. they were definitely warming the crowd up with high energy and a crazy guitarist that was running off of adrenaline!! Just about every photo of him if blurry because he couldn't stand still! That band did amazing and you should definitely go see them if they are coming near you!

For A Day To Remember I pretty much Already knew what to expect from them. But I was wrong. They put on a show I will never forget! Just as I thought, they started the set of with their song "downfall of us all" which from the crowd's reaction, needed no approval.Jeremy (vocalist) was very energetic and camera friendly. (as you can see him pointing at me one one photo) And was definitely the guy that peoples eyes and camera's in the crowd followed. But the guitarist and bassist were pretty jumpy by launching themselves about 5 ft in the air with no riser's help at all! As the second song came into play. So did beach balls. I never had a problem with beach balls until they made it nearly impossible from walking from one side of the stage to the other, with tons of them in the photo pit. After the balls came the TP... Toilet paper. Being tossed and streamed from the stage to the moshpit in the crowd and back for a song or two. Needless to say it most likely soaked up any spilled drinks on the floor.Halfway through the set, and the end of a song Jeremy noticed a few fans in the middle of the pit in distress. Apparently someone was crowd surfing and ending up dropping to the floor... On his head. So Jeremy waited until the kid got up and made sure he was ok, before continuing the set... He wasn't sure what happened exactly and seemed pretty worried about the guy. Security went to check and they ended up having to call EMT's in to take over. Postponing the show about 25 mins. After he was taken to the hospital. ADTR came back out on stage and shared a feeling a worry, and let everyone know to watch out for each other and be careful. They showed professionalism and the show went on. And by going on, I mean Jeremy climbing inside of the hamsterball and rolling across the crowd in it! came back onto the stage and they finished out the stage with a bang. with throwing the bass guitar from one side of the stage to the other to be caught as they were walking off!

A video starts when the lights blackout...bringing the crowds minds into what their lyrics are about. Songs that carry political-driven messages such as anti-government, the collapsing economy and bullying. Tim Mcllrath’s distinctive chords gave genuine emotion to his heavy words. The Township was built originally for the acoustics of orchestra. And Every strum on Tim's guitar came across loud and clear and well as the rest of the instruments and vocals. The whole show was packed full of energy, then they slowed it down. Tim brought out his acoustic guitar and played 2 songs. Audience of one, and Swing life away. The other guys came back out and kicked it back into high gear for a few more songs. And that was the end of their set. Until the crowd chanted for 1 more song! So they came out and played an extended version of Savior with an interesting kick in the middle. The crowd loved what they did to the song live and when it was all over, they tossed out the remaining guitar picks, and a few drumsticks. Overall this show was nothing less than amazing,AEG Live definitely did a great job putting this show on, and if live in the Columbia area and you missed it, I feel sorry for you. This being the sites first review I would like to say Thank you for reading, and supporting FromThePit. and This couldn't be done with out my partner Brandon Basham's help. I also want to thank my good friend CJ Drigger's who was kind enough to trust me with borrowing a rather expensive lens to shoot this performance with! Until next time! keep supporting, and keep ROCKIN!!!
